Overview

AltKit ("we", "our", "the app") is a Shopify application that helps merchants generate alt text for product, blog, and collection images. This policy describes how we handle data when you install and use the app.

Data We Collect

• Shop domain and Shopify access tokens (required for app operation)
• Product, blog, and collection image metadata (titles, URLs, existing alt text)
• App settings and preferences you configure

Data We Do Not Collect

• Customer personal information
• Payment card details (billing is handled by Shopify)
• Order or checkout data

How We Use Data

Data is used solely to scan images, generate alt text (via templates or AI), and write alt text back to your Shopify store.

Third-Party Services

AI generation uses OpenAI (ChatGPT). Product images are sent to OpenAI server-side solely for alt text generation. We do not sell or share your data with other third parties.

Data Retention

Shop data is retained while the app is installed. Upon uninstall or Shopify GDPR shop/redact webhook, all shop data is deleted within 48 hours.
